in-state admission
In-state applicants who graduated from an accredited Texas high school within five years of the date of first enrollment and have never attended a college or university must meet the following requirements:

The scores from the writing section of the ACT or SAT exam will now be required as part of the application process. However, for the immediate future, this will be supplemental information for internal research purposes. Please refer to the table above for SAT or ACT test score application requirements (only critical reading & math sections).
If a firstime-freshman does not meet these criteria, the following factors may be taken into consideration to determine admission:
First-generation college student status
Financial status of applicant's school district
Extracurricular activities
Leadership
Community activities
Work Experience
Socioeconomic background
Experience in surmounting obstacles to pursue higher education
