Virgina Fugon

Assistant Early Childhood Specialist

Education: Virginia received her Bachelors Degree in Honduras in 1995. She has also received professional training as a Child Development Associate and holds a Preschool certificate. She has worked with children for over 11 years. She is continuing her education by taking classes in Early Childhood Education, leading to an Associate in Arts.

Hobbies: She enjoys dancing, sewing, gardening and reading books.

Philosophy: "To enjoy each day to the fullest and take advantage of every opportunity that comes your way." 

Janet Hughes

Assistant Early Childhood Specialist

Education: Janet graduated from Har-Brack High School and Professional Carpet Cleaners of Indianapolis. She obtained her Child Development Associate in October 2004.

Hobbies: Janet enjoys crocheting, swimming, and gardening. She loves to go fishing with her grandchildren.

Philosophy: "Children are our future and it is our responsibility to give them the best guidance and keep them safe. We can change the world one child at a time."

Cindy Lira

Early Childhood Specialist

Education: Cindy began working with children in high school, holding a work-study position in the special education department. She decided that children were her calling and so she pursued & received her CDA with a specialization in infants and toddlers. She then continued on to receive her Associate of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education. Cindy is currently a senior at UTSA and is working on her Bachelor's in Early Childhood Education.

Hobbies: Cindy is actively involved with the Girl Scouts of San Antonio and the ROTC at Marshall High School. She also loves camping & tubing down the Frio River. Her family also competes in rodeos.

Philosophy: "I believe we need to live life to its fullest and never take anything for granted. Be thankful for everyone in your life and always let them know how important they are to you."

Vicki Mirales

Early Childhood Specialist

Education: Vicki has earned an Associate of Applied Science in Early Childhood Development and a certificate in Early Childhood from the University of Maryland in 2004. She has also received her navy Training Modules for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers.

Hobbies:Vicki enjoys crochet, needle point, painting and swimming.

Philosophy: "Treat other the way you want to be treated."

Odilia Rossi

Early Childhood Specialist

Education: Odilia Rossi has an Associate Degree in Applied Science in Early Childhood Development from San Antonio College. She also has an Associate Degree in Business from the University of Saint Mary in the Republic of Panama. Odilia has earned certificates in Early Childhood Administration and Child Development Center Credentials, as well as a Child Development Associate in 1999.

Hobbies: She enjoys traveling, cooking, sewing, and shopping.

Philosophy: "Children are our future so nurturing, facilitating, caring and providing is the best I can do for them, because I love children."

Nicole Saldana

Assistant Early Childhood Specialist

Education: Nicole is currently enrolled at UTSA and will be graduating in May with a Bachelor's degree in General Education (EC-4).

Hobbies: In her free time, Nicole enjoys spending time with her family & friends, arts & crafts, writing, swimming, shopping, and playing & working with children.

Philosophy: "Education is the foundation on which our society is built upon. As educators, we need to set the standards for education and uphold them to ensure that our society continues to prosper and progress."

Naomi Miller

Early Childhood Specialist

Education: Naomi has earned her both her Associate of Arts (San Antonio College) and Bachelor of Arts (University of Texas at San Antonio) degrees in English. She is currently pursuing her Masters degree, as well. She has been working toddlers for two and half years.

Hobbies: Naomi loves to read, sing, decorate cakes, and spend a lot of time with her family.

Philosophy: " Children enjoy challenges - from trying to blow bubbles to climbing stairs. They love to try almost as much as they like to succeed. They need a lot of positive reinforcement. Songs, books, and discovery are building blocks in their learning process."

Nanette Velasquez

Early Childhood Specialist

Education: Nanette has been working with children for about 23 years. Her experiences have taken her from the infant to preschool classrooms. She received her Associates Degree in Child Development from San Antonio College and her Bachelor's in Applied Arts and Sciences Degree from the University of the Incarnate World. She continues to attend trainings and seminars in an effort to keep up with the ever changing Early Childhood field.

Hobbies: She enjoys baking, teaching religious education classes to first graders, and bowling with her league.

Philosophy: "Working with young children is something I have always enjoyed doing, because I like watching them grow and develop. To see them blossom from a seed to a flower is something to treasure everyday, because you're never too young to learn (and have fun, as well.)"

Sheryl Wedige

Early Childhood Specialist

Education: Sheryl Wedige has an Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education and a One Year Certificate in Administration. She has been working in the child care field for 23 years. Sheryl has worked with children for 18 years and worked for five years as an assistant director.

Hobbies: When not working with the children, Sheryl enjoys spending time with family, traveling, and supporting her children in their sports.

Philosophy: "Children learn best through the experience that is 'play'. They should always be encouraged to explore and learn in a comfortable environment for this is the true way to reveal your care and nurturing love."

Jennifer Wegman

Assistant Early Childhood Specialist

Education: Jennifer is currently working towards a Bachelor's Degree in Child and Family Studies. She has been working in the child care field for eight years. Jennifer has worked with the following age groups: infants, young toddlers, toddlers, preschoolers and kindergarten children.

Hobbies: When not working with the children, Jennifer enjoys spending time with her friends and family. She enjoys traveling to learn new things and meeting new people.

Philosophy: "Treat others as you would want to be
