2008 - 2009 3rd Quarter Recipients

Survey of Organizational Excellence

Business Affairs is proud to recognize Anne Jett, Frank Erazo, Martha Hinojosa, Judy Verdon and Cheryl Nunn, Human Resources, as the 3rd quarter recipients of the Celebrating Excellence Award for FY 2009.

Anne and Judy began preparing for the Survey of Organizational Excellence (SOE) in Fall 2008. They coordinated with U. T. Austin to review the survey and ensure the coding for all the Business Affairs employees was correct, which in itself is an extremely time-consuming process. They partnered with each direct report to confirm that employees were listed in the correct department and to account for any reorganizations. They created the communications (emails, memos, website, flyers for bulletin boards) distributed to all the Business Affairs staff announcing the Survey. The SOE logo and theme for this year - You Make a Difference - were created with Judy's creativity and Frank's technical and graphic expertise and collaboration. The SOE Team collaborated with Academic Technology and produced a very creative and fun introduction video for Kerry to address the Business Affairs staff and answer questions posed by several employees.

The Business Affairs Office was updated weekly on the participation rates and the SOE team was ensuring that all employees had access to the Survey by offering an electronic and paper form in English and Spanish. They even delivered the paper surveys to shuttle drivers! After the Survey closed, Anne and Judy prepared the presentations for all (21) the Town Hall meetings.

Martha and Cheryl ensured that the note taker (Temp) used at the Town Hall meetings, arrived as scheduled and they provided transportation from and to HR to the Main or Downtown campus. In addition, they provided a laptop and computer access, and submitted the notes to the Business Affairs Office after each meeting. Since these meetings could be rescheduled due to last minute calendar conflicts, Martha and Cheryl remained flexible and adjusted their schedules accordingly. Martha performed her IT magic, keeping the SOE website updated with current information.

The collaboration between the various Business Affairs departments and the time and effort to this initiative is nothing less than amazing! This is a wonderful demonstration of their commitment to Excellence and our brand - Your Partners for Successful Solutions!
