ANALYTICAL FACILITIES

The major analytical facilities in the EGL include:
  • Ion Chromatograph (gradient type) with conductivity detector and autosampler (Dionex DX 500)
  • Gas Chromatograph with FI and EC detectors and autosampler (Varian CP 3800)
  • High Performance Liquid Chromatograph (gradient type) with variable length UV-Vis detector and autosampler (Varian ProStar)
  • CHNS/O Elemental Analyzer and autosampler (Perkin Elmer PE 2400)
  • Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer with graphite furnace and FIAS attachments and autosampler (Perkin Elmer PE 700)
  • Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometer and autosampler (Perkin Elmer ELAN 9000)
  • Liquid Scintillation Counter (Beckman LS 6500) 
  • UV-Visible Light Optical Spectrophotometer with sipper attachment (Varian Cary 50)
  • Microplate Spectrophotometer (Biorad Benchmark Plus)
  • RoboCyclerŽ Gradient Temperature Cycler for PCR amplifications
  • Nucleic acid and protein electrophoresis and gel-blot systems
  • Gel-doc 2000 imaging system
  • Optical Spectrophotometer and Colorimeter
  • Anaerobic Chamber, in addition to common accessories such as Analytical balances, EC/Ion/pH meters, Ovens, Muffle furnace, Titrator, turbidity meter, COD reactor, DO meter, centrifuge, soil and water sampling tools, etc.

  • Transmitted and reflected light microscopes (Geology)
  • GIS and GPS Facilities (Environmental Science)

  • Rock prep Facilities (Geology)

Computing facilities in the EGL include:
  • Numerous Pentium computers with a wide array of geochemical and hydrological software.
