 Border County Program

(Previously known as "Pilot Program for Students from Mexico")

 

This program was developed to encourage students from Mexico with limited financial resources to enroll in Texas public institutions of Higher Education, and to facilitate in the completion of undergraduate and graduate level programs. If eligible for the program, the student is eligible to pay State of Texas tuition rates. The Border County Program is in effect for an academic year--Fall, Spring and Summer semesters.

Criteria

  • Student must be a citizen and permanent resident of Mexico.
  • Student must meet the Admissions requirements at UTSA for a F1/J1 visa only.
  • Student must enroll on a full-time basis (Undergraduates--12 credit hours per semester; Graduates--9 credit hours per semester).
  • Student must demonstrate financial need.
  • If student is already attending UTSA, he/she must provide proof of significant changes in the family’s financial circumstances after a year of attendance.
  • If the student is not approved for the program, the student can enroll as an international student paying non-resident rates.
