The UTSA ASPRS Student Chapter and the LRSG exhibited our geospatial related works and the Department of Geological Sciences to hundreds of San Antonio school kids at the San Antonio GIS Day. Thanks to graduate students Newfel and Guoqing for their time and hard work.

The UTSA ASPRS Student Chapter and the LRSG exhibited our geospatial related works to hundreds of San Antonio school kids at the San Antonio GIS Day-Student Day. PhD student Newfel Mazari and masters student BeiBei Yu led the efforts.

ASPRS/MAPPS Fall Conference, November 16-19, 2009, San Antonio, TX

  • Burcu Ozsoy-Cicek got first place at the ASPRS Mid-South Student Award for her presentation "Intercomparisons of Antarctic sea ice properties from ship observations, active and passive microwave satellite observations in the Bellingshausen Sea."
  • Mark Schnur got first place at the ASPRS Mid-South Student Award for his presentation "Mapping time series root zone soil moisture in a semi-arid region using satellite images."
2006

ASPRS-MAPPS Fall 2006 Conference, November 6-10, 2006, San Antonio, TX
Burcu Ozsoy-Cicek got second place at Student Papers/Presentations with the presentation named "Variability of Snow Depth on Sea Ice in Ross Region of Antarctic using AMSR-E/AQUA Geophysical Products."

2004

ASPRS Regional Conference, November 10-13, 2004, Nacogdoches, TX
Kunle Owojori got the Third Best Graduate Paper at the conference for his oral presentation of "Land cover change associated with the growth of Nacogdoches and Lufkin, Texas from 1984-2002."
