Party on the Paseo celebrates 10 years at UTSA

Party on the Paseo celebrates 10 years at UTSA

Party on the Paseo moves the fun indoors this year to the H-E-B Student Union Ballrooms.

(April 24, 2018) -- Fiesta fun returns to UTSA this week. The 10th annual Party on the Paseo begins at 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 26 at a new location, the H-E-B Student Union Ballroom (HSU 1.104/1.106) on the UTSA Main Campus. All activities and foods are free and open to the public.

New this year, Party on the Paseo will transform the ballrooms into a casino featuring slot machines and blackjack, roulette and craps tables. Participants will be eligible for a chance to win a variety of prizes in a drawing, including an Apple Watch. The tradition will also include a free buffet, t-shirts and live music from DJ Gumby.

Party on the Paseo raises awareness among UTSA students about the dangers of alcohol abuse. Guests will view a rolling PowerPoint and receive other educational resources related to responsible alcohol consumption.

“Party on the Paseo is one of many UTSA efforts that creates a culture of care for Roadrunners,” said Jarvis Clark, UTSA associate director of Student Activities. “We enjoy providing an alcohol-free Fiesta event that raises awareness of what can happen as a result of excessive or illegal drinking. We want Roadrunners to know that they can have a good time without the presence of alcohol and that if they choose to drink, they should be mindful of the law, mindful of how alcohol impacts the body and strive to act responsibly.”

Party on the Paseo is sponsored and coordinated by the UTSA Office of Student Activities in partnership with UTSA Fraternity/Sorority Life and Beaks Up. Speak Up., UTSA’s bystander intervention initiative.

This year’s event will feature a live showing of the NFL Draft, scheduled April 26-28 in Arlington, Texas. UTSA alumnus Marcus Davenport ’17 is expected to be drafted in the first round.

Additionally, UTSA will be giving away Fiesta medals at Party on the Paseo. Follow @UTSA on Facebook Live for details.
