UTSA wins 2004 Southland
Conference Title»

UTSA is a member of the Southland Conference and San Antonio's only NCAA Division I institution.

The university fields teams in baseball, basketball, cross country, golf, indoor and outdoor track and field, softball, tennis, soccer and volleyball.

UTSA will host the NCAA 2008 Men's Final Four and the 2010 Women's Final Four Basketball Championships.

UTSA has hosted several NCAA championship events:

  • 2005 women's volleyball Final Four
  • 2004 men's basketball Final Four
  • 2003 men's basketball South Regional
  • 2002 women's basketball Final Four
  • 1998 men's basketball Final Four
  • 1997 men's basketball Midwest Regional.

UTSA has qualified for 10 NCAA championship events:

  • 2004, 1999 and 1988 men's basketball tournaments
  • 2004 women's softball team tournament and won its first Southland Conference Championship
  • 2004 Southland Conference Baseball Tournament
  • 2003 women's basketball tournament and won its first Southland Conference Championship
  • 1994 Southland Conference Baseball Tournament
  • 1997 men's and 1996 women's cross-country championships
  • 2000 Volleyball Tournament Women's volleyball and won its first Southland Conference Championship in 1999

By 2010, UTSA will have hosted 11 major NCAA Championships in a 13-year period. The Roadrunners made school history in 2004 as both NCAA Tournament participant and Men’s Final Four host.
