Admittance

Admittance to the Honors College DOES require a separate application that can be down-loaded from the Honors College website.

Scholarships

All students accepted and in good standing within the Honors College AND who applied by the February 1st deadline are automatically considered for any special awards and scholarships through the Honors College.

Eligibility

Admission to the Honors Program is competitive and based on GPA, ACT or SAT scores, an essay, and recommendations. Students entering directly from high school should meet one of the following requirements:

Graduation in the top 10%
or
SAT M+V = 1100
or
ACT of 24

Honors College Benefits

Outstanding Faculty

Honors courses are taught by prominent faculty -- identified by students and colleagues as outstanding teachers and scholars.

Priority Registration

All Honors students register in the first days of registration to help them attain their course selections.

Individualized Academic Advising

A major feature of the UTSA Honors College is the ready availability of knowledgeable academic advising . The Honors College has its own advising staff.

Supervised Research

Under the supervision of a faculty member, Honors students complete a research project on a topic of their own choosing. Participating in this project and completing an Honors Thesis gives students the chance to develop research skills and areas of interest that can be pursued after completing work at UTSA.

National Scholarships & Fellowship Competitions

Honors College staff assist students in identifying and applying for national scholarships and fellowships, including the Harry S. Truman Scholarship, the National Science Fellowship, the Rhodes, Marshall, and Gates-Cambridge Scholarship, the National Hispanic Scholarship, and many others)
