Student Activities
Student Activities - UTSA
A significant portion of what is learned through the total college experience is what happens outside the classroom. Even though students are not required to participate in any type of outside activity, it certainly is recommended. Co-curricular leadership, cultural and experiential experiences foster holistic student learning and development. They lay the foundation of leadership development, cultural awareness, and community service.
Campus Recreation
UTSA Campus Recreation Center at the 1604 campus is undergoing one of the largest collegiate recreation expansion projects in the country. The state-of-art facility will more than double its size to over 300,000 square feet and significantly increase the number and type of recreational opportunities. Campus Recreation also has a Fitness Center at the Downtown Campus. The student fees cover most of the services and programming provided.
Intramural Sports:
- open to everyone on campus, regardless of the participant's skill level. Students accustomed to competing at the high school level can find a strong level of athletic competition. The novice athlete can also compete with other appropriate beginners.
Club Sports:
- competitive and require more time and skill. Club teams practice regularly and travel to play club teams at other universities.
Fitness Activities:
- are for the individual or for groups. It is possible to undergo a comprehensive fitness assessment before beginning any type of activity. One can also learn "healthful" eating habits, and even how to cook the healthy food.
Outdoor Pursuits:
- provide a variety of opportunities and resources to the UTSA community. Outings, a 54-foot-tall Rock Wall, and equipment check-out program enable participants to enjoy and learn more about outdoor recreation and adventure.
Aquatics Center:
- located on the 1604 Campus, the Aquatic Center features a lap pool, lazy river with fountain, two cold spas, a recreational pool, 2 hot spas, 2 beach volleyball courts, an outdoor basketball court and an island for lounging.
Campus Activities Board
The Campus Activities Board is responsible for planning and implementing programs for the entire UTSA community.
