VOTE ON MAY 10!
On May 10, the citizens of Bexar County will
vote on the extension of the “Visitors Tax”, a hotel
occupancy tax and car rental tax that will be used
to pay for projects around the community intended to increase
tourism.
If
approved by voters, a portion of these proceeds - $15
million - will be
allocated to UTSA for a
proposed athletics complex. This complex is an
important component in the growth of the UTSA Athletics
program and the university in general.

Want to leave your mark at UTSA?
The Office of Alumni Programs and the
University Center are teaming up to give
alumni, graduating seniors, faculty, staff
and friends of UTSA the
opportunity to do just that with the UTSA Brick
and Bench Campaign. |
The engraved bricks and
dedicated benches will be located on the UC Paseo
between the existing University Center and the new
expansion that will open in August. For a limited
time, bricks are being offered for $100 each,
installed in time for the start of the 2008–2009
academic year. After that, bricks will be sold for
$150.
Proceeds from Brick and Bench
sales will be used to fund a leadership scholarship
and various UC activities, including a film series,
poetry slams, concerts and comedy shows. For more

SPREADING THE NEWS ..."
Another great travel
opportunity for alumni and friends is the New
York City Holiday Tour, round trip from San Antonio, leaving on
December 1 and returning December 5. Travelers
stay at the
Sheraton New York, and will enjoy a Broadway
show, Greenwich Village, Metropolitan Museum of Art,
Christmas Spectacular at Radio City Music Hall,
Statue of Liberty, and Ellis Island. Five
meals are included, one at the famous Tavern on the
Green in Central Park. Don’t miss the travel interest meeting on
Wednesday, May 20, at 6 pm in the University
Center, Magnolia Room.

ALUMNI ARE KICKIN' UP A GOOD TIME!
The Association is starting a
co-ed kickball team - it's America’s favorite
pastime! The 'Runners need to field a team of 15
players. The season begins on May 21 with games on
Wednesday nights at 7 pm for eight consecutive weeks
at Kenwood Park (on Dora St between San Pedro Ave
and McCullough Ave.). Cost is $70 per person and
includes a team shirt.
Join in the fun and relive those days on the

CONGRATULATIONS, LADY
ROADRUNNERS!
The UTSA Women's basketball team
won the Southland
Conference Tournament and an automatic bid to
the first round of the Women's Final Four. On
Saturday, March 22, they faced the Texas A&M
Aggie Ladies in Baton Rouge, LA. Although the Lady Aggies
won the game, the Lady Roadrunners played their
hearts out.
