The UTSA Alumni Association established its Scholarship
Program in 1982, awarding two scholarships for a total
of $200.
Since 1982,
The Association has awarded over $721,000 in scholarships to 275
deserving students.
The goal of
the Alumni Association is to distribute at least $60,000 in scholarships
annually to UTSA students.
For the
2007-2008, the Alumni Association awarded 38 scholarships, for a total
of $73,000. The generous and supportive benefactors of these
student scholars come from our large and diverse network of
alumni and their families, corporations, small business
owners, individuals, foundations, UTSA faculty and staff,
and friends of the university. All are fervently committed
to opening wide the doors of higher education to deserving
students so that each may achieve their life’s dreams.

The Scholarship
Salute provides an opportunity for the student scholars to
be recognized, and, at the same time, brings families and
benefactors together to celebrate their accomplishments.
These scholars represent some of the brightest students at
UTSA, a fact confirmed by their consistently high cumulative
GPAs. This spring semester, the cumulative GPA of our
transferring and returning scholars was 3.69, with eleven of
the students achieving a 4.0 for the semester and four
students maintaining a 4.0 cumulative GPA.
Proceeds from the Alumni Association’s annual Rising Star
Gala and Diploma Dash 5K Run & City Championship Race
are the primary sources for funding these scholarships. |
