Faculty + Personnel

The University of Texas at San Antonio's College of Architecture, located in the heart of historic downtown San Antonio, offers a diverse faculty who foster a close relationship to the city and the region. Faculty members maintain engagement in their field through rigorous research, and their mission for teaching is geared to creative activity and practice. The College of Architecture has 20 full-time tenured and tenure-track faculty members and 25 adjuncts who bring a wide range of experience and expertise to the classroom.

Faculty and students consider San Antonio and the region a unique laboratory from which to explore design in the context of a cultural landscape and emphasize teaching students how to integrate ideas and technologies with traditions, place, and community fabric. Faculty members engage students in a design-studio education where the interrelationship of teacher and student creates designs relating to concepts of place, culture, region, sustainability, and facets of the city and the region.

Engaged in concepts from theory to practice, students work with faculty mentors on individual and team projects where they are encouraged to define and refine their craft as well as consider their work in the larger context of the field. Ethics, responsibility, innovation, creativity, community service, leadership, and the pursuit of excellence are all foundational to the diverse academic experience offered by faculty in UTSA’s College of Architecture.
