Faculty + PersonnelConstruction Science and Management Program - College of ArchitectureThe Construction Science and Management Program (CSM) and the College of Architecture at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) invite qualified individuals to apply for full‐time tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, beginning in August 2012. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications. UTSA's CSM program is a progressive professional degree program (BS.CSM), and one of the fastest growing programs at the University. The program is an ACCE candidate program pursuing full accreditation. In addition to the CSM program, the College of Architecture offers fully accredited degrees in Architecture (M.Arch) and Interior Design (BS.IntDes), with a graduate program in Urban and Regional Planning (MS.URP). With about 1,000 undergraduates and 150 graduate students, the College has approximately 25 tenure track and 20 FTE adjunct faculty from the local design and construction community. The campus is located in downtown San Antonio, one of America's oldest and most vibrant urban environments where design, construction and research find unique topics of inquiry. The College's faculty is committed to education, and to building an institution that fosters intellectual excellence and collegiality. Responsibilities for the position include developing and teaching a range of required courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Candidates should have a clear research agenda, be prepared to develop professional opportunities for students (competition teams, internship programs, scholarships, etc.), and to participate in the further development of the CSM program. The candidate will: 1) conduct scholarly research at a level that promises future recognition, 2) teach seminars, lecture courses and computer labs, and 3) make service contributions to the educational institution. Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess either a Master's degree in a construction‐related discipline with at least 3 years of construction management experience showing progressive responsibility, or a Ph.D. in Construction or a related discipline. Candidates must have completed all requirements for the Master's Degree by the date of hire or ‐‐ if ABD ‐‐ complete their PhD within one year of the date of hire. Applicants applying at the Associate rank will be considered for tenure based on their qualifications. Tenure is contingent upon Board of Regents approval. Preferred qualifications: Experience and/or research in three or more of the following areas: computerized construction estimating/planning/scheduling, building information modeling (BIM), computer/information technology applications in construction management, sustainable building practices, and MEP systems.
