Bercy and Chen

The College of Architecture’s spring 2009 lecture series begins January 28 with Thomas Bercy and Calvin Chen of the Bercy Chen Studio in Austin. The lecture is at 6 p.m. in the Aula Canaria in the Buena Vista Building at the downtown UTSA campus. The lecture is open to the public and there is no charge to attend.

Bercy and Chen are both graduates of the University of Texas at Austin, and their firm has garnered national and international attention due to its work with private and public sector clients, attention to vernacular precedents from various cultures, innovative plans based on environmentally sustainable and financially viable plans. Chen serves on the City of Austin’s Design Commission and has been part of several initiatives, including the “Create Austin” cultural master planning project. Both serve on the board of advisers for the Austin Museum of Art.

Featured in the lecture series in February will be Scot Bernhard Feb. 4, Molo Design Feb. 11, Andy Byrnes Feb. 18, and John Grable Feb. 25. The series continues through the spring semester, ending with a keynote lecture for ARCC Conference by Chris Luebkeman on April 15.
