UTSA and OIT mourn death of Steven A. Daly

UTSA and the Office of Information Technology extend deepest sympathy to the family of Steven A. Daly, who passed away Thursday afternoon, March 3. He is survived by his mother, two brothers and a sister who live in the Pacific Northwest. While serving in the United States Air Force, Daly lived in Anchorage, Alaska for 10 years and then was transferred to San Antonio. After leaving the Air Force in 1995, he worked for Trident Data Systems and Sun Microsystems before coming to UTSA in September 2003. He was an integral part of the CoLo Project with the UT M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, WebCT, Banner, UNIX support and many other UTSA projects. Since joining the UTSA family, Daly made an enormous impact on his co-workers with his jovial words of gratitude when a favor was done for him and always bragged about his cookies (which were "da bomb-diggity!"). A connoisseur of motorcycles, he talked often of his annual vacations spent riding across the country. From OIT, "Stevo… you touched all our hearts and will be greatly missed."

Lights, camera, action -- make your video request now

Students in Media Studies 3333 and 4333, digital video production, need topics for interviews and four-minute final projects. Faculty and staff members, departments and offices needing short videos for work- or research-related purposes, can e-mail a pitch (a paragraph explaining what you need and what you want featured, plus e-mail and phone numbers). There is no guarantee your topic will be chosen by a crew, but it can't hurt to send in a proposal. The only obligation as the client is to provide blank media for recording the piece. Mark your calendars now for the Digital Video Showcase, 2-4 p.m., May 6 in Business Building Room 3.04.18, to see fall and spring student video projects.
