Lodging, per-diem rates change

Recently, lodging and per-diem rates changed for out-of-state travel. The "GG1" command in the Define system has not been updated by UT Austin computer services. Effective today, Oct. 28, use the Out-of-State Meal and Lodging Rates Web site for the correct lodging and per-diem rates. Vouchers received and processed to date will be reimbursed at the rate used on the voucher.

Emergency procedure: Be aware, be safe

If you encounter an emergency on or near the UTSA campuses, call one of these numbers:

911 (from a university land line)
(210) 458-4911 (from a cell phone)

These numbers are to the UTSA dispatcher, who will send an EMS unit (estimated average arrival time within 12 minutes) as well as a first responder (estimated arrival time within 4 minutes). The first responder will seek to stop bleeding, restore breathing and provide CPR (defribillator) until EMS arrives. Additionally, police units are dispatched to the entrance of the campus to direct the EMS unit to the emergency situation.

Dialing 911 from a cell phone will route the call to the City of San Antonio and will dispatch EMS but may not activate a UTSA first responder nor dispatch UTSA police to the campus entrances. Additionally, consider adding the university emergency number to your cell phone as well as a phone number for next-of-kin designated "emergency contact."

Surplus office changes computer turn-in procedure

When turning in computers to the surplus office, it is no longer required for departments to erase the hard drives. Surplus will destroy all computer hard drive data as required by the State Comptroller's Office. Use Surplus Property Turn-In Form 100 to remove equipment from your unit code following pick-up. Because accuracy and legibility on the form are critical, information on the form must be typed, not handwritten. Download the form at the Surplus Department Web site or at Outlook Public Folders/All Public Folders/UTSA Forms/Surplus Dept.
