Rep. Henry Bonilla to announce $2.36 million TRIO funding

UTSA President Ricardo Romo will host U.S. Rep. Henry Bonilla at a luncheon celebrating the $2.36 million funding of the UTSA TRIO programs. The event is 11:30 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 19 in the University Center Retama Auditorium (2.02.02), 1604 Campus. The UTSA community is encouraged to attend.

Bonilla will announce $2.36 million in funding, which will be allotted over four years. As part of the new funding, $800,000 will expand TRIO programs. A TRIO alumnus, Bonilla has been instrumental in obtaining more than $17 million since 1990 for UTSA's TRIO and GEAR UP programs.

The federal TRIO program is an educational-opportunity outreach program to motivate and support secondary students from disadvantaged backgrounds in preparation for college.
