Register for discrimination, diversity awareness classesThe UTSA Office of Institutional Diversity (OID) will offer training workshops for faculty, staff and student employees on preventing discrimination and harassment, and increasing diversity awareness in the workplace. Send corrections to accounts for fiscal year-endCorrections for department accounts through July should be sent by Thursday, Aug. 30 to meet the fiscal year-end deadlines. E-mail corrections for your account to the Office of Accounting. The August statement of accounts will no longer be hand-delivered. Statements will be available in the 1604 and Downtown campus mail rooms by noon, Friday, Sept. 7. E-mail corrections to the Office of Accounting by 5 p.m., Monday, Sept. 10. Offer feedback on convocation ceremonyThe UTSA Convocation Committee asks for your help in evaluating this year's Fall Convocation and the Faculty and Staff Convocation Breakfast. Take an online survey to help improve the event. The survey takes less than 15 minutes to complete and responses are anonymous. Volunteers needed for floor captains programVolunteers are needed for the UTSA floor captains program to assist during evacuations. Volunteer floor captains will assist emergency responders in an efficient evacuation of their floors, particularly in assisting those with special physical needs. Volunteers are needed to increase the effectiveness of the program and are needed especially for the Biosciences Building, Biotechnology, Sciences and Engineering Building, Business Building, Science Building, Child Development Center, Chisholm Hall, Engineering Building and Institute of Texas Cultures. Training sessions are Sept. 5 at the 1604 Campus and Sept. 6 at the Downtown Campus. Faculty research award applications due Oct. 10The deadline to submit applications for the UTSA Faculty Research Awards is 5 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 10. The program promotes UTSA research and scholarship of the highest quality. The competition is open to full-time, tenure-track faculty, regardless of rank. Applications from assistant professors will be considered separately from those submitted by associate and full professors. The Faculty Research Awards Committee will review, evaluate and recommend funding of the research proposals. Funding is limited to $5,000 per project; proposals must include a budget justification. Policy added to UTSA HOPA new policy was added to the UTSA Handbook of Operating Procedures (HOP): 5.19 "Mandatory Use of Release/Indemnification Forms."
