New Mac OS not approved for UTSA computers

If your department recently purchased the Mac Operating System X Leopard Family Pack, the software cannot legally be installed on university-owned laptops or PCs. A message from Apple to the UTSA Office of Information Technology states: "The Mac OS X Family Pack End User License Agreement (EULA) requires that the software be installed on no more than five CPUs that are owned by an individual and exist within a single household. It does not include CPUs owned by an educational institution and therefore is not available for sale to non-qualified purchasing entities. Apple offers an Education Volume License Agreement (EVLA) program for institutions wishing to install Mac OS X on multiple CPUs."

The OIT Help Desk is evaluating Leopard, and may approve it for UTSA use pending the evaluation outcome.
