Employees must have activated EID to download W-2 statementUTSA employees must have an activated employee identification number (EID) with password in order to access personal information online such as the W-2 annual income statement, earnings statements and employee biographical information. An active EID also is necessary to access the Define information system and to enroll online through TXClass for training classes. EID Activation classes are available for all employees. In the class, employees will receive training on the activation process, password selection and desktop customization. A photo ID must be presented at the class to validate credentials. To enroll in an EID class in the spring semester, contact HR Training and Development at 458-4658 or Define Services at 458-4346, 458-4343 or 458-4556. Faculty and staff must read new ethics policy, sign acknowledgment formAs part of the university's ongoing effort to ensure enforcement of the highest standards of ethical conduct and integrity as it serves the public, each employee must read a new ethics policy and related material, and sign an acknowledgment form that will be kept on file. Writing and distribution of the policy to faculty and staff members was mandated by legislation passed during the 80th Texas Legislature last spring. Training and Development offers online needs-assessment surveyThe Office of Training and Development needs your feedback in a brief online needs-assessment survey. Visit SurveyMonkey.com through Jan. 25 to complete the survey. Responses will be used to plan programs to meet the learning needs of UTSA employees. Staff Council scholarship application deadline is Feb. 15Applications for the UTSA Staff Council Scholarships will be accepted through Feb. 15. Classified and administrative and professional employees who meet the scholarship criteria are encouraged to apply. Scholarships of $250 will be awarded for Fall 2008 to one undergraduate and one graduate student. The council raises scholarship funds by selling bottled water at May commencement ceremonies and other events. These and other fundraising events will ensure the continuation of the scholarships. Pick up an application at the Scholarship Office at John Peace Library Building Room 1.01.20, 1604 Campus, or download an application at the UTSA Staff Council Web site. RCMI seeks proposals from tenured, tenure-track facultyThe UTSA Research Centers at Minority Institutions (RCMI) program is seeking pre-proposals from tenured and tenure-track faculty in preparation for a competing renewal of the RCMI grant. The NIH RCMI Program is dedicated to the development of research infrastructure at minority-serving institutions. UTSA has participated in the program for eight years and received more than $15 million in infrastructure and research support. The program has funded major core facilities in imaging, proteomics and computation as well as individual faculty research programs and faculty development. Audix voice mail system to be replaced Feb. 3UTSA Telephone Services will replace the current Avaya Audix voice mail system with the new Cisco Unity system on Sunday, Feb. 3. Technical support is ending for the Avaya software, so replacement software was required. When the new system is active, current UTSA voice mail users must set up voice mail (i.e. record greeting message) as if they are new users.
