Ride the bus to Lubbock for UTSA women's basketball gamesUTSA women's basketball is going dancing! The Roadrunners are playing in Lubbock for the first and possibly second round of the NCAA Tournament. The first-round game will be against Baylor at 8:30 p.m., Sunday, March 22 at the US Spirit Arena in Lubbock. The UTSA Athletics Department is making arrangements for a fan bus to this first-round game. Plans are for the bus to leave UTSA the morning of Sunday, March 22. The bus will return to UTSA on Monday, March 23. If UTSA is victorious in the first-round game, a second bus trip will be made from UTSA to Lubbock for the second-round game Tuesday, March 24. Fans from the first trip that choose to remain in Lubbock between games can return to UTSA following the second game March 25, provided they purchase a ticket for the second bus trip. UTSA hosts March 18 mayoral election debateThe UTSA Alumni Association and the UTSA Student Government Association will host a mayoral candidate debate at 7 p.m., Wednesday, March 18 in the Main Building Auditorium (0.104) on the 1604 Campus. Seating will begin at 6 p.m. and parking will be available in lot 4. The 90-minute debate will be open to the public and broadcast live exclusively on Time Warner Cable digital channel 50. Featuring candidates Julian Castro, Diane Cibrian, Sheila D. McNeil and Trish DeBerry-Mejia, it is the first debate where all four mayoral hopefuls will meet face to face. Learn about services at travel vendor fair March 19The UTSA Office of Disbursements and Travel Services will host a free travel vendor fair for UTSA travel providers from 9 to 11 a.m., Thursday, March 19 in the John Peace Library Building Assembly Room (4.03.08) on the 1604 Campus. At the fair, three university-contracted travel agencies will be introduced, along with representatives of direct-bill hotels and car rental agencies. Faculty, staff can register for free wellness programUTSA faculty and staff members are invited to join a new free wellness program, Rowdy New U. The six-month pilot wellness program kick-off will be outside the Main Building on the 1604 Campus at noon, Tuesday, March 31 with a group walk to the west lawn of the Convocation Center. At the Convocation Center, President Ricardo Romo and Provost John Frederick will introduce the new wellness program. At the kick-off, there will be registration tables and the Health and Kinesiology Mobile Health Lab to provide free baseline health screenings. Participants are invited to bring lunch; healthy snacks and water will be provided. Rowdy New U is for faculty and staff interested in increasing their activity level, changing nutritional habits and becoming more involved in healthy living. University Oaks will house summer internsUniversity Oaks apartments is offering a special service to UTSA departments that hire summer interns. Short-term housing (an apartment with a full kitchen) will be provided for the interns, keeping in mind department needs, budgets and help needed to coordinate a move into a unit.
