The Blueprint UTSA plan outlines UTSA's institutional strategies to guide us toward our Tier One goal over the next five years. One of the most important strategies within the Blueprint UTSA plan focuses on optimizing our financial resources to continue building a world-class university. In support of this strategy, UTSA will need to be proactive and create a new budget allocation model that is transparent and data driven, supports entrepreneurship and innovation, and aligns resources needed for our strategic plans.
To support this effort, President Ricardo Romo authorized the formation of the Strategic Budget and Fiscal Sustainability Task Force (Budget Task Force). This task force will be charged with securing an in-depth understanding of UTSA's existing budget and resource allocation methodology. The task force will conduct a review of and research on various resource management approaches to help formulate recommendations on new budgeting model, tools, and plans that are appropriate for the UTSA environment.
During the ensuing months, the task force will strengthen its knowledge and processes, which will assist in forming recommendations for future budget preparation. Its members are committed to transparency and campus engagement throughout the process.
The task force will comprise representatives from across the institution and will be chaired by Lenora C. Chapman, Associate Vice President for Financial Affairs. Kathy Funk-Baxter, Vice President for Business Affairs, Mauli Agrawal, Interim Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Sam Gonzalez, Vice President for Student Affairs, will serve as President Romo’s leadership team representatives on the task force. See the list of task force members.
We will deliver world-class resources, support and infrastructure commensurate with a Tier One institution.
Strategy 4.2: Implement a new budget allocation model that is transparent and data driven, supports entrepreneurship and innovation, and better aligns resources with the Blueprint UTSA Plan.
