PeopleSoft Hardware Infrastructure to be Replaced

UTShare On-Premise Build and Migration Project

What is Happening?

UT Shared Information Services (UT SIS) has embarked on a project to replace the old hardware infrastructure with new state of the art equipment that is adequately scaled to support the academic institutions using the UTShare/PeopleSoft systems.   The migration to this new infrastructure affects all PeopleSoft environments being used on our campus.

The new infrastructure will use the Arlington Regional Data Center (ARDC) as the primary site, and the UT Austin Data Center will be the secondary site.  In the final design, there will be redundancy between the two sites.

The project’s purpose is to build an infrastructure that is stable and standardized (where possible) and that provides redundancy for UT System campuses.   Campuses should see increased system performance, and unscheduled down time should rarely occur.

What is the Impact?

The impact to the UTSA campuses will be mostly transparent.  In partnership with UT SIS, The PeopleSoft Support & Sustainment Center (PSSC) will coordinate and validate changes that affect our campus.  However, there may be impacted items within your area that you can help identify, most notably:

  • Shared.utsystem.edu Domain names that you have imbedded within webpages
  • Shared.utsystem.edu Domain names within any documentation
  • Shared.utsystem.edu Domain names marked as browser favorites or shortcuts

The existing Shared.utsystem.edu domain name will be changed to utshare.utsystem.edu.

UTSA Direct Campus Impact

We appreciate your patience during this time.  Please contact PSSC at (210) 458-7762 if you have any questions or concerns.
