Detectives Recognized for Returning Stolen Property

$5,000 Worth of Football Equipment Recovered

On March 26, the UTSA Police Department was notified that a burglary may have occurred at the Physical Education Building on Main Campus. A large amount of UTSA football equipment was missing. Based on a video taken by one of the suspects while committing the crime, the UTSAPD Investigations Section immediately launched an investigation. Using good, old-fashioned police work, the detectives were able to positively identify two juveniles who were responsible for the crime.

The investigators recovered more than $5,000 worth of stolen property from the suspects’ residences, which they returned to the football team on March 29.

"We are extremely grateful for the phenomenal job the UTSA Police Department did in quickly solving this crime and ensuring the safe return of all of our stolen equipment,” said UTSA Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics Dr. Lisa Campos. “Our law enforcement officers have been an incredible campus partner, and this is just one example of the outstanding service they provide year round to help keep UTSA safe."

Associate Vice President of Public Safety and Chief of Police Gerald Lewis recognized the exemplary efforts in the case by awarding the UTSA Police Commendation Award to the following detectives:

  • Detective Sergeant Allan Crocker
  • Corporal Armando Gonzalez
  • Corporal Jacob Criswell

Thank you for your service to UTSA and public safety!
