In All We Do,
We Do With

EXCELLENCE

Every Person,
Every Day,
Every Job

In all We Do, We Do With Excellence - Every Person, Every Day, Every Job

As a reminder from the May Business Affairs Forum, one of the main ingredients to EXCELLENCE is Delivering on the Details.  Remember the quote..."QUALITY: Countless, unseen details are often the difference between mediocre and magnificent."  If we're going to move toward excellence in a new way, we must pay attention to details; otherwise, we are stuck in mediocrity.

If you go to a nice restaurant and the food is delicious, but the wait staff are rude, your water glass is not filled when needed, your order takes longer than it should, it takes 15 minutes to get your check - you get the picture - then, you may not return and you're going to tell several people about your bad (mediocre at best) experience!  The attention to details is what makes a special evening special.  It's the same here at UTSA.  It's the 'countless, unseen details' that make high levels of customer service transparent.

Recall the Disney examples:  they know the average number of steps someone takes before they discard trash on the ground if there's not a trash bin nearby!  If you tell a Disney representative what time you arrived, they can tell you what lot your car is in.  It's Disney's staff paying attention to the details that makes your experience magical.

Think about your position.  What are the details that if consistently met would make a difference in how you deliver service and expertise to your customers?

Happy Holidays to Everyone!  Have a wonderful Christmas
 - relax - enjoy your family - and be SAFE.

Spotlight on.....  Zoila Titus

Zoila “Patty” Titus joined the Payroll Department on December 10, 2001 as an Accounting Technician. She proved herself so quickly, however, she was promoted to an Accountant I on March 1, 2003, then to Accountant II on October 1, 2005. She has gained experience in almost every facet of the payroll function. She currently is responsible for all insurance and retirement related issues.

Patty and her husband, John, who recently retired from the Air Force, together with their two children, Gabree, age 13 and Kevin
– age 14, and their three dogs, Shadow, Oscar and Pepper, decided to settle here in San Antonio. While John was in the Air Force, they did a great deal of traveling and spent time in Washington, Las Vegas and Guam.

Patty loves to read and she is an avid movie watcher. Patty’s dedication to her work in the Payroll Department makes her an integral part of the UTSA team. According to Anna Manning, Director of Payroll, “Patty exemplifies what it means to be customer service oriented. I am blessed to have her on our team.”

DOING WHAT'S RIGHT....HELP MAINTAIN OUR HIGH STANDARDS

High standards are more than a slogan or catchphrase - they are a way of doing university business.  Maintaining high standards means conducting university business ethically and legally.  Our adherence to these standards is a key component in building a reputation for excellence and integrity.

HOW CAN I HELP MAINTAIN HIGH STANDARDS OF BUSINESS CONDUCT?  Think before you act.  If you don't feel comfortable discussing the problems within normal channels, you may call The Network, an independent company which provides an anonymous reporting service for hundreds of companies worldwide.  This service is not intended as a substitute for speaking directly with management.  It is an option that is always available if you want to help and remain anonymous.
