Kerry's Korner...... In all We Do, We Do With Excellence - Every Person, Every Day, Every Job As a reminder from the May Business Affairs Forum, one of the main ingredients to EXCELLENCE is Delivering on the Details. Remember the quote..."QUALITY: Countless, unseen details are often the difference between mediocre and magnificent." If we're going to move toward excellence in a new way, we must pay attention to details; otherwise, we are stuck in mediocrity. If you go to a nice restaurant and the food is delicious, but the wait staff are rude, your water glass is not filled when needed, your order takes longer than it should, it takes 15 minutes to get your check - you get the picture - then, you may not return and you're going to tell several people about your bad (mediocre at best) experience! The attention to details is what makes a special evening special. It's the same here at UTSA. It's the 'countless, unseen details' that make high levels of customer service transparent. Recall the Disney examples: they know the average number of steps someone takes before they discard trash on the ground if there's not a trash bin nearby! If you tell a Disney representative what time you arrived, they can tell you what lot your car is in. It's Disney's staff paying attention to the details that makes your experience magical. Think about your position. What are the details that if consistently met would make a difference in how you deliver service and expertise to your customers? Happy
