Business Affairs - Your partner for successful solutions |
|
|
Kerry's
Korner...... “Business Affairs....Your partner for successful solutions” resulted from a partnership between Dr. Tom Cannon, Director of UTSA’s Tourism Program in the College of Business, and my direct reports and staff. We are appreciative of Dr. Cannon’s commitment of resources and time to assist us with this important and strategic initiative. Along with our brand, comes our promise to all who we serve, “We are committed to helping you achieve your goals through excellence in service – every person, every day, every job.” I encourage you to explore the implications of our brand and the service promise in your staff meetings and discussions with your colleagues. By
the way, thanks for your support at the Business Affairs Forum! We
had a great time! |

on...Brenda Tamayo![]() Brenda Tamayo, a Work Control Specialist with the Office of Facilities for the past eight years, considers her job a true blessing for herself and her family. “I believe working here at UTSA in the Office of Facilities has allowed me to accomplish many things that I would not have anywhere else. I look forward to continued growth here in the Office of Facilities.” Brenda and her husband, Albert will celebrate their 8th wedding anniversary this September. They are the proud parents of soon to be four-year-old Caleb Asahel Tamayo. Brenda, the only child of Dora Cardenas, was born and reared in San Antonio. She earned her associates degree at San Antonio College in 1993 and obtained her first job with SAS Shoemakers, as a customer service representative where she remained until the factory burned down in the fall of 1997. Brenda joined UTSA in 1998 in Facilities Work Control Department. Brenda’s hobbies include quilting, sewing, crocheting and reading various types of gardening books. She has a small vegetable garden in her backyard. Brenda and Albert enjoy antiquing on the weekends in the Hill Country. For the past two years, Brenda has been teaching Sunday school at Oak Hills Church to preschoolers. Her family also enjoys going to movies and local concerts. They have four dogs: Dusty, Pumpkin, Coco and Peanut, who complete their family and keep them very busy. Brenda, we are privileged to have you working with us! |

UTSA's recycling program continues to be successful. In
fact, it's growing by the barrelful. From December 2005 to April 2006, recycling at the UTSA
Tri-campuses has increased 67 percent from 11.7 to 19.6 tons of
materials deposited monthly.
On
July 7, 2004, Human Resources introduced STARS (STreamlined Applicant
Recruitment System). On May 10, 2006, we reached a milestone. Henrietta
Vasquez became the 1,000th employee hired in STARS. Henrietta is a
transfer employee from UTHSCSA and began her employment at UTSA as a
Building Attendant I on May 15th. Congratulations Henrietta and welcome
to UTSA! Henrietta, her manager, Sonia Saenz, the AVP for Facilities, Dave
Riker, and the ASO II for Facilities, Bonnie Marks were surprised with a
celebration to commemorate this exciting event.
