Recent Highlights of Our Research

An antimony(III) dithiocarbamate compound, C15H30N3O6S6Sb, Figure 1, has been reinvestigated in our labs at -180°C so as to determine the details of the hydrogen bonding operating in the crystal structure. As seen from Figure 2, each terminal hydroxyl group participates in a 12-membered [...O-H]6 ring leading to a three-dimensional array as shown in Figure 3. Unless the steric bulk of R in these Sb(S2CNR2)3 compound precludes this, these types of molecules always associate into dimeric pairs via Sb...S interactions (see CrystEngComm 7 (2005) 20 - 27). In the present case, the hydrogen-bonding gets in the way so that molecules can not associate via Sb...S interactions. More details can be found in Acta Crystallographica E62 (2006) m1887 - m1889.
