Candace M. Coyle

  • Postdoctoral Research Associate: 2001, Princeton University
  • Ph. D., Physical Chemistry: 1999, West Virginia University
  • B.S., Chemistry: 1994, Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University

Research Interests

  • Biophysical Spectroscopy: Applications of Surface enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) spectroscopy to elucidate the structural and mechanistic details of the interaction of nucleic bases, DNA and RNA with copper in carcinogenic tissues
  • Biosensors: Optical detection technologies applied to Homeland Security to serves as a basic optical tool that can target both chemical and biological agents of interest Specifically, stand-off detection of the linkage of agent-specific binding proteins to modified gold nanoparticles using SERS
  • Environmental Chemistry: Investigating the nature of manganese oxide degradation of sulfonylurea herbicides in the environment using resonance Raman (RR) and ATR-IR spectroscopies
