Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy

Resources at UTSA

Work Stations
Comfortable In-Lab Unix® workstations are used to access the various instruments in the UTSA MR laboratory. In addition, the instrument servers are always available via secure internet access.
Inova 500
The Inova™ 500 MHz NMR spectrometer is used for high resolution spectra.  It is normally equipped with a 5mm 1H/2H/19F switchable broadband direct detection probe.  Also available are a 5mm indirect detection probe and a 10mm broadband probe.  The instrument has variable temperature capabilities (both above and below room temp) and a pulsed field gradient generator.  For extremely sensitive experiments, an antivibration system is available.  While the instrument is usually set for 13C experiments, 15N, 19F, and 31P spectra are obtainable without a probe change.
Mercury 300
The Mercury 300 MHz NMR spectrometer is the workhorse of the chemical research laboratories.  It is unequaled for throughput and ease of use for 1H/2H/19F and 13C spectra.  Through the use of a dual high-band probe, fluorine spectra may be obtained without retuning or probe change.
Anasazi 60
The Anasazi 60 MHz nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometer is used for procedural training and for product analysis in the introductory organic chemistry laboratories. This permanent magnet instrument is incredibly rugged, surviving untold abuse at the hands of novice users.
Bruker EPR 2
The Bruker EMS electron paramagnetic resonance spectrometer is used for routine ESR spectra and for characterizing metal ligand bonding schemes.
Bruker EPR
A Bruker ESP 300E electron paramagnetic resonance spectrometer is used for metal complex and enzyme analysis at 4°K.
