Art Classes

Art - Drawing Class --The Endless Exploration

Learning to observe the five basic elements of shape in our visual world (dot family; circle family; straight line family; curved line family; angle family); to explore different styles of drawing (abstracting; flat-styled; realistic gesture; realistic contour; realistic volume); learning how to outline the planning of a project and the steps involved (design the project; plan the composition and style; choosing the materials; utilizing rough drafts); learning the techniques of proportion, positive and negative space, scale perspective, and shading (drawing the human form, the animal kingdom, imaginary beings; drawing inanimate objects; vehicles; plants and flowers; landscapes or nature scenes; city or building scenes; inanimate objects, etc.

Chinese Cultural Classes

Chinese Folk Dance I for ages from 6‐9 years old

Instruction to the basic classical movements of Chinese folk dance; preparation of stage show for cultural events.

Chinese Folk Dance II for ages 10 and up

Instruction in the advanced classical movements of Chinese folk dance; preparation of stage show for cultural events.

Chinese Martial Arts for ages from 6‐9 years old (class I) 10 years old (class II)

Instruction in the classical movements of Chinese Martial Arts; preparation of stage show for cultural events.

Chinese Musical Instrument – Di Zi

Instruction in the basic skills in playing DI ZI; preparation of stage show for cultural events.

Language Classes

Adult Beginner Chinese

Introduction to beginning level Mandarin Chinese and to Chinese history and culture. Students will be introduced to basic skills in speaking, listening, reading, and writing in Mandarin Chinese.

Adult Intermediate Chinese

Intermediate level instruction in Mandarin Chinese speaking, listening, reading, and writing; introduction to composition and reading of simple email messages to more advanced communications in Chinese.

Better Chinese Elementary I

Introduction to beginning level Mandarin Chinese and to age appropriate Chinese history and culture. Students will be introduced to basic skills in speaking, listening, reading, and writing in Mandarin Chinese.

Better Chinese Elementary II

Intermediate level instruction in Mandarin Chinese speaking, listening, reading, and writing; introduction to composition and reading of simple written messages in Chinese.

Better Chinese Elementary III

Features a spiral‐up lesson structure that builds upon and applies previous material so children can learn Chinese naturally‐‐the way they would in a native environment. Vividly illustrates a comprehensive selection of sentence patterns, easy‐to‐read Chinese characters, Pinyin, colorful pictures, and introduces young readers to basic Chinese sentences in a daily living environment. Each lesson features sections on vocabulary, exercises, character practice, and a reading challenge, along with English translations for each vocabulary word and sentence.

Better Chinese Elementary IV

Feature a spiral-up lesson structure that builds upon and applies previous material, so children can learn Chinese naturally--the way they would in a native environment. This class covers sports meets, seeing a doctor, the seasons, Chinese festivals, the Chinese zodiac, my community and more.

Business Chinese I

Introduction to beginning level business-related Mandarin Chinese and to Chinese business culture. Students will be introduced to basic Chinese Phonics, grammar and approx. 100 basic Chinese characters, as well as how to survive in the Chinese business environment.

Business Chinese II (prerequisite: Business Chinese I)

Feature a spiral‐up lesson structure that builds upon and applies previous material, so students can learn business Chinese in a native environment.
