Dear Conference Participants,

The College of Sciences (COS) at The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) welcomes you to the 2009 Annual COS Research Conference on Friday, August 7, 2009 at our Main Campus, University Center III from 8 AM to 5 PM. This year’s conference will feature seminars by faculty, postdoctoral fellows and graduate students; posters by undergraduate students; academic department and facilities tours; and a keynote address by Dr. Karl Klose on infectious disease research at UTSA.

The demand for high quality scientific research in South Texas is growing, and at UTSA we understand that in order to meet this demand, we must work together to create the collaborative synergies that lead to new discoveries and advance the sciences. The 2009 COS Research Conference is intended to celebrate work that we have already done, as well as to foster connections that will enable us to build and strengthen research and training capabilities in our region. We believe that great strength is gained through the partnerships we forge, and we enthusiastically welcome the opportunity to partner with you in this year’s event.

We ask that you encourage your faculty and students to join us in the research presentations. UTSA’s established and aspiring research scientists will present their results at this year’s COS Research Conference. We would be honored if your faculty and students would also present their conference-ready results. Please feel free to contact us about this event or any of our research or graduate programs.
