The information provided below details the requirements for participation in the UTSA FAST Scholarship Program.

Requirements

  • U.S. citizen or permanent resident
  • Major in Biochemistry, Biology, Chemistry, Microbiology & Immunology, or Physics
  • Classified as economically disadvantaged according to the Department of Education rules for need-based federal financial aid

Applications are no longer being accepted.

Continuance Requirements

  • Maintain a 3.2 semester GPA in both science and non-science coursework
    • Scholars whose semester GPA falls between 3.2 and 3.0 will be counseled in the first instance, placed on probation in the second, and removed from the program on the third
    • Scholars whose semester GPA for the most recent semester falls below 3.0 will be placed on probation in the first instance and removed from the program on the second
    • Scholars whose semester GPA falls below 2.75 in any semester will be removed from the program
    • Scholars may be reinstated when their semester GPA in science and non-science coursework are both above 3.2
