Paul W. Carter

Director of Development/Annual Giving

Paul, who came to UTSA in February 2002 as development officer for the College of Engineering, moved to the Development Office in May 2004.  Previously, the UT-Tyler graduate spent almost a decade with the Boy Scouts of America before becoming the chief development officer for the American Red Cross in Houston. He moved to the Red Cross national headquarters in Washington, D.C. and became vice president for development in 1998.

Linda Lopez-George

Director of Development/Corporate and Business Relations

Linda joined the Development staff in November 2002. A graduate of UT-Austin with a bachelor's degree in government and a master's degree in public administration, she came to UTSA from St. Mary's University, where she was development officer for the School of Law. Linda also has served as regional director of development for Washington State University-Spokane and acting director of development/alumni relations at Gonzaga University School of Law.

Janice Odom

Assistant Vice President for Advancement Services

After two years as development officer for the College of Liberal and Fine Arts, Janice joined the central Development Office staff in September 2002 and was named to her current position in March 2008. She came to San Antonio from UT-Pan American, where she was director of university relations. An honors graduate of the University of North Texas with a B.A. in journalism, she earned an M.A. at New Mexico Highlands University, where she served as assistant to the president and executive director of university relations.

Brian Wallace, CFRE

Director of Development/Gift Planning

Brian offers assistance to individual donors making gifts for the University’s capital, endowment and programmatic needs. He came to UTSA in November 2005 from the University of the Incarnate Word, where he helped donors make gifts through wills, annuities and trusts. Brian has a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from Oblate College in Washington, D.C., a Master of Divinity degree from Oblate School of Theology in San Antonio and extensive experience in international development.

Juli Favor

Associate Executive Director of
Advancement/Institute of Texan Cultures

Juli came to UTSA in 1997 as associate director of development for the Institute of Texan Cultures, one of UTSA's three campuses. In 1998, she was promoted to director of advancement at ITC, with responsibilities for planning, implementing and evaluating development and public relations programs. Juli is a graduate of Our Lady of the Lake University with a degree in management.

Mary Jackson

Director of Advancement/College of Sciences

Mary joined the College of Sciences in July 2007. She relocated to Texas from Richmond, Virginia , where she worked as a director of major gifts for The Community Idea Stations, central Virginia ’s public television and radio stations. Her previous higher education positions include working at Christian Brothers University and Kennesaw State University . She completed her undergraduate degree at Virginia Tech and a master’s degree at the College of William and Mary, both in English.

Kimberly S. West, CFRE

Kim, who joined the College of Business in June 2005, moved to San Antonio from Washington, D.C., where she worked with the Council on Competitiveness as director of membership and special projects and as deputy director of the Getsmarter.org initiative. A Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the State University of New York at Buffalo, she also holds an M.A. in international affairs from George Washington University and a certificate in Spanish language and culture from Universidad Complutense de Madrid in Spain.

Helene J. Benitez, CFRE

Helene, former assistant director of development for annual giving and assistant director of development services at UTSA, returned to the University in February 2003 after almost three years as director of major gifts at Central Catholic High School in San Antonio. A summa cum laude graduate of the University of the Incarnate Word with a B.A. degree, she earned a M.B.A. from UTSA in 2006.

Chris Bischoff

Associate Director of Development/College of Education and Human Development

Chris came to UTSA in August 2007 after a tenure as a major gifts officer at Texas Lutheran University in Seguin. Prior to entering fundraising, he served as an officer in the U.S. Navy and worked in industrial contract sales. He holds a bachelor’s degree from TLU and is a graduate of the Armed Forces Staff College. Chris’ son, Kurt, is a graduate student at UTSA pursuing a M.S. in biotechnology.

Erica N. Dixon

Associate Director of Development/College of Engineering

Erica Dixon, a graduate of UTSA with a B.A. in Sociology in 1998 and Master of Public Administration in 2006, came to the College of Engineering in 2006. Before returning to her alma mater, she was a development officer with the American Red Cross-Southwest Service Area, development supervisor for the San Antonio Zoological Society; director of annual support for the YMCA of San Antonio & The Hill Country; and a fundraiser for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

Jana Jaure Kennelly

Associate Director of Development/Student Affairs

Jana, former regional director of the National FFA Foundation in Indianapolis, joined UTSA in October 2006 as the development officer for the Division of Student Affairs. A native of Beeville, Texas, Jana earned a B.S. degree in agricultural development from Texas A&M University in 1996 and an M.S. in agricultural education, with a communication emphasis, from Texas Tech University in 1998. Before going to the FFA, she was a marketing specialist with the Texas Department of Agriculture.

Brad Parrott

Affairs/Department of Intercollegiate Athletics

Brad came to UTSA in September 2001 as director-community relations for Athletics and was promoted to his current position in June 2002. A 1975 journalism graduate of Central State University in Edmond, Oklahoma, he was a sports reporter with the Oklahoma City Times from 1974-78 and then began a public relations career with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company.

Benga Adeeko

Endowment Compliance Officer

Benga joined the Development Office in July 2007 after working for 16 years in the Accounting Office, where he monitored all gift accounts. In his role as Endowment Compliance Officer, he ensures that endowment funds are used according to the donor’s intent and is responsible for reporting on the use of endowed gifts to the UT System. Benga holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois and a M.B.A. from Eastern Illinois University.

Quinn Barraza

Assistant Director of Advancement Services/Gift Services

Quinn, a graduate of the University of Kansas with B.A.degrees in philosophy and medieval and classical history, joined the Development Office staff in June 2001. Formerly, she was assistant director of annual giving at the Kansas University Endowment Association. At UTSA, she supervises a development services team that is responsible for gift processing, donor records and fundraising reporting.

Karen Kimbell

Assistant Director of Advancement Services/Scholarships

Prior to joining the development staff in May 2007, Karen worked in admissions at the University of the Incarnate Word. Her first work with scholarships was as a student assistant in the scholarship office at The University of Texas at Austin, where she earned a B.A. in English and German. In 2002, Karen completed a M.A. in communication arts from UIW. She brings a wealth of student financial service and data management experience to UTSA.

Heather Locke Marlow

Heather is a UTSA alumna, completing a M.A. in adult and higher education administration in August 2007. A graduate of St. Norbert College in Wisconsin, she previously worked as coordinator of planned giving at the United States Naval Academy Foundation in Maryland, and began her development career with the Association of Graduates, U.S. Military Academy at West Point. Heather joined the UTSA development team in 2004.

Genevieve Lopez

Annual Fund Phone Center Coordinator

A 2005 cum laude graduate of UTSA with a bachelor’s degree in communication, Genevieve has been coordinating the Annual Fund calling program since November 2006. In her role, she supervises students who call UTSA alumni to ask for annual gifts. She was first introduced to the Annual Fund phonathon when she worked as a student caller herself. Genevieve’s previous work experience includes internships in public relations and marketing, and a position in member services with USAA.
