
The UTSA Downtown Campus offers entire degree programs or components of programs leading to 17 bachelor's and 6 master's degrees. Three teaching certificate programs are also available for individuals interested in furthering their studies.
The following degree programs are offered at the UTSA Downtown Campus.
The Department of Counseling, Educational Psychology and Adult and Higher Education offers both a M.A. in Counseling and a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision.
Master of Arts in Counseling
The Master of Arts in Counseling program offers students training and academic preparation in community counseling and school counseling. The community counseling option is designed for students interested in careers in agencies, hospitals and private practices and offers coursework that helps prepare students to take the state examination for licensing as a professional counselor (LPC). The school counseling program is designed for students interested in careers in elementary or secondary education and offers coursework that helps prepare students to take the state examination for all-level certification as a school counselor.
Master of Arts in Adult and Higher Education
The university is no longer accepting applications for admission to the M.A. in Adult and Higher Education program. Only those students who were previously admitted to the M.A. in Adult and Higher Education program will have the option to complete this degree. Doctor of Philosophy in Counselor Education and Supervision
The Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision program is intended to prepare students to work as counselor educators, supervisors and advanced practitioners in culturally diverse academic and clinical settings. Counselor educators and leaders graduating from this program will be prepared to effectively address the needs of culturally and linguistically diverse populations.

The Academy for Teacher Excellence is pleased to announce that services will be provided to interdisciplinary majors, students seeking teaching certification, and interns in the Accelerated Teacher Preparation Program (ATEP) on a regular basis at the Downtown Campus. Our office is located in the Durango Building 3rd floor, room 3.220. Mr. Abraham Dominguez, A-TEP Project Director, Ms. Lillian Hernandez, Teacher Academy Learning Community (TALC) Program Coordinator, and Mrs. Claudia T. Garcia, TALC Induction Year Specialist, will meet with students by appointment for the month of September and will establish standing office hours in October.
