AP Spanish Literature and culture for new and experienced teachers

Workshop Description

The objective of this AP Spanish Language  institute will be on the new format and content of the latest AP Spanish Language and Culture Exam.  It will consist of a thorough overview of the new exam including and not limited to the 6 themes and essential learning skills for a successful AP program. This is an activity-based approach that will provide participants with useful strategies and activities for not only developing but maintaining a successful AP program.  Additional topics include applying the new rubrics, and integrating other important components such as literature, music, culture videos and online resources. 

What to Bring

Please bring with you copies of your favorite activity, project, video, or ancillary materials to share with other participants on the last day. If you have a favorite and successful unit of study pertaining to the new format please bring 25 copies to share with classmates. Please bring lots of sticky notes and a couple of highlighters.

Consultant Bio

Alma L. González has been teaching in the public schools for 30 years. She has been head of the Foreign Language Department for 18 years. She has been a Spanish AP Reader for 9 years and has served as a Table Leader as well. She has experience  teaching Spanish Language AP and Spanish Literature AP.  She is also been an adjunct professor and University of Texas-Brownsville for 10 years and at Gladys Porter High School in Brownsville, Texas for 28 years. This will be her seventh year as a consultant for College Board.
