Workshop Faculty
The UTSA 2013 APSI program offers course-specific learning
opportunities for new and experienced AP teachers. Courses are led by
dedicated College Board-endorsed lead consultants who have proven
experience as leaders and presenters in their field. Consultants for
2013 include Siemens Award recipients, outstanding educators through the
National Society of High School Scholars, AP Exam Readers, published
authors and teachers with over 20 years of experience, and SCOLT Teacher
of the Year.
About the Institute
The Advanced Placement Summer Institute is administered by the UTSA
Office of Extended Education and endorsed by the Southwestern Region of
the College Board. Our mission is to provide the highest quality of
instruction in a professional environment, and to prepare educators in
guiding students toward a successful college experience!

Certification and Attendance Policy
Participants meet for thirty hours of instruction during the week
and must attend at least 90% of the workshop (i.e., miss no more than
three hours of instruction) in order to receive a certificate of
completion.
Itinerary
All Pre-AP* and AP workshop sessions meet Tuesday through Friday. Each day there
will be two fifteen minute breaks, one in the morning and one in the afternoon
(given at the discretion of your workshop consultant), as well as a half-hour
lunch.
Tuesday- A
complimentary breakfast will be provided from 7:00AM to 8:00AM.
Workshops will begin at 9:00AM on Tuesday, so please allow yourself
extra time on this first day to find parking (if applicable), attend the
orientation, enjoy breakfast and find your classroom! Extended Education
personnel will be on site, and any registration discrepancies will be
addressed immediately. A boxed lunch will be provided.
Wednesday-Friday- A
complimentary breakfast will be provided from 7:00AM to 8:00AM.
Workshops will run 8:00AM to 5:00PM. A continental breakfast and boxed
lunch will be provided each day. At the end of institute, course
evaluations will be conducted and certificates will be distributed.
Registration Deadlines
For July APSI, the deadline is July 5th. For August
APSI, the deadline is July 19th. After these deadline
dates, a $50 fee will be incurred for late enrollments and changes.
Changes include, but are not limited to late/new enrollments,
substituting participants, and cancellations. Onsite registration will
NOT be allowed.
Refunds & Cancellation Policy
Refunds on cancellations, minus the $50 processing fee, will be
given through July 5th for the July APSI, and July 19th
for the August APSI. To cancel, submit in writing to
Extended.ed@utsa.edu, or by mail no later than the deadline date.
Substitutions
There is a $50 processing fee. Substitutions cannot be made after
each institutes deadline date: July 5th for July Institute,
and July 19th for August Institute.
Final Payment Deadline
All payments made by check/money order or PO must be submitted by
the APSI deadline date.
Workshop Cancellations
UTSA will make every effort to maintain the published
schedule of workshops; however, we reserve the right to make any
necessary changes and/or cancellations. If a workshop is changed or
cancelled, all participants will be notified immediately and will be
given the opportunity to transfer to an open workshop or receive a full
refund.
What to Bring
Workshop: You must check your workshop’s course description for
information on what to bring. Because it may be periodically updated, we
strongly advise you to check the website closer to your workshop’s start
date.
Dress: Very casual. July and August are hot months, but rooms may
be chilly, so bring appropriate attire.
Lab attire: For
participants in science labs, please be sure to wear lab-appropriate
clothing (no shorts, flip-flops, etc.)
