Staff performance evaluations

Dear Roadrunner Staff,

For the past several months Human Resources, in partnership with senior leadership, has worked to revise our performance evaluation process for staff.

The changes will bring many welcome improvements. Notably, the entire process will be moved online and have a built-in workflow, making it much easier for employees and supervisors to complete, share and submit their evaluations. In addition, revisions to the performance evaluation form itself will make it a more effective tool for meaningful conversations around employee performance.

As part of this initiative, we are shifting the performance review period to mirror our fiscal year (September 1 – August 31), resulting in better alignment with our budgetary process.

For this transition year, we will extend the current performance review period through August 31, 2020. Therefore, this year’s performance evaluations will cover the period February 1, 2019 – August 31, 2020, and the forms will be due to Human Resources on October 1, 2020. We strongly encourage supervisors to continue meeting with employees regarding their performance over this extended period.

The possibility of merit raises will be assessed every year contingent on budget availability. Under this new timeframe, any merit raises will become effective on January 1.

There will be more information and engagement to come on these exciting changes in the near future. In the meanwhile, please feel free to reach out to our interim assistant vice president for human resources Denise Moore with any questions you may have. Thank you for all you do for UTSA!

Sincerely,
Sylvia Enriquez signature
