Research:

  • Environmental Plant Sciences with emphasis on: 

    • Phytoremediation of metal contaminated soil and water,

    • Genetic characterization of metal detoxification mechanisms in plants,

    • Characterization of metal stress responses in plants.

  • Bioremediation (using microbes to remediate contaminated soils and water).

Dr. Datta brings experience to our education program conducting research in chemical and phytoremediation of arsenic contaminated soils.  Dr. Datta also has experience in molecular and analytical techniques and a exceptional knowledge of laboratory instrumentation.
