Presidential Awards

For more than 20 years, the President’s Distinguished Achievement Awards have recognized UTSA faculty members for their outstanding contributions in teaching, research and service. Twelve awards of $1,000 each are given each year.

Nomination Process

  • Only the materials requested for each award will be considered when determining award recommendations. No other materials should be submitted.
  • Faculty may only win a given presidential award once.

Number of Nominees per College

Each college may submit a maximum number of nominees (based on the size of the college) for each award category. (For example, the College of Architecture will be allowed to submit a total of three nominations for the Teaching Excellence Awards: one for each category of tenured, tenure-track and non-tenure-track faculty):

Submission Process

  • All nominations will be submitted electronically via RowdySpace by the deans' offices. Deadline for colleges to submit nominations will be Jan. 31, 2014. Please check with your dean's office for other, internal deadlines.

Review Process

  • Multiple, smaller committees composed of former award recipients will review nomination portfolios.
  • Tenured faculty will be considered based on sustained excellence over time whereas tenure-track faculty will be evaluated based on their accomplishments to date and career trajectory.
