Important Financial Aid News!
Pell Grant Changes
There are 3 important changes to the Pell Grant of which students must be aware:
- Important Changes to Aid for Repeated Coursework Effective July 1, 2011.
New Federal regulations (RETAKING COURSE WORK (Sec. 668.2(b)) (FR p. 666948)) limit students’ eligibility of Federal aid with regards to repeated courses. For more information see here.
- Federal regulations now state that students who are eligible to graduate with a bachelor’s degree and choose to extend their enrollment without graduating cannot continue to receive the Federal Pell Grant.
- Students will only have Pell during summer 2012 if they have not received their full allocation for 2011-2012.
For further information on these Pell Grant changes read more here.
GPA Change for Maintaining Financial Aid
All undergraduate students must maintain a cumulative 2.0 GPA requirement for all credit hours attempted. The GPA is reviewed at the end of the Spring semester each year and students will no longer be eligible for financial aid if the cumulative GPA drops below the minimum requirement. For futher information please visit our Satisfactory Academic Progress page.
Our Purpose
The primary purpose of financial aid is to provide resources to students who would otherwise be unable to pursue a post-secondary education. The UTSA Office of Student Financial Aid and Enrollment Services will meet the direct costs or financial need for all eligible students until a variety of funds have been exhausted. All students are awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis, subject to the availability of funds, academic performance and demonstrated financial need.
