UTSAccess Program
To help make higher education affordable and accessible and provide support to financially needy students, University of Texas at San Antonio is announcing a new financial aid program.
Beginning with the Fall 2007 semester, all incoming first-time freshman (graduate from high school during 2007) Texas residents with a family income of $25,000 or less will be provided grants and/or scholarships to cover tuition and mandatory fees for four years under the New UTSAccess Program (Undergraduate Tuition, Support and Access Program).
The UTSAccess Program will also set aside work-study funds for students to help cover the costs of room and board and other educational expenses. Students may work on campus for approximately 10-12 hours per week to help support their additional costs and will gain work experience in a variety of departments while becoming involved in campus life. Students will also be provided low interest loans to assist with additional education expenses over and above tuition and fees.
Along with financial aid resources, the UTSAccess Program will also provide support to students that help them continue at UTSA and graduate on time. Support programs include assistance with increased advising, financial aid counseling, money management programs and tutoring.
To participate in the UTSAccess Program tuition and fee guarantee, students with a family income of $25,000 or less must apply and be admitted to UTSA by March 31st, apply for financial aid using the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by the priority deadline of March 31st, be registered for at least 12 hours each semester, although 15 is recommended, complete 30 credit hours each year and maintain a GPA of 2.0 or higher.
