New Freshman and Transfer Students Financial Aid Checklist
In order to help you through the financial aid process, we have created this page to list the steps necessary to complete your financial aid process at UTSA. Before UTSA can award you financial aid, you must have completed the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) with the UTSA school code: 010115. If you would like a forecast for your approximate financial aid award provided by the Department of Education, please visit www.fafsa4caster.ed.gov.
More information regarding the FAFSA can be found in our FAFSA Frequently Asked Questions. With the following checklist you will be able to easily keep track of the items you have completed and items that may still need your attention.
- Completed 2007-2008 FAFSA with UTSA’s School Code 010115.
- Received and read the UTSA Financial Aid Award Notification.
- Logged onto ASAP and accepted the financial aid awards you want to receive.
- Completed and submitted the Student Information Form.
- If you plan to receive Stafford Loans (subsidized and/or unsubsidized), have you:
- Completed Stafford Loan Entrance Counseling
- Chosen a lender at TG Loans by Web
- Completed a Master Promissory Note with your lender
- If you plan to receive the Parent Plus Loan, have your parents:
- Completed and submitted the PLUS Request Form
- Chosen a lender and applied for the loan
- Submitted notification to UTSA from their lender of Pre-approval status
- Submit a Master Promissory Note(MPN) to the lender
- If you plan to receive an Alternative Loan, have you:
- Chosen a lender and applied for the loan
- Followed any other directions sent by the lender
- If you plan to receive a Perkins Loan, have you:
- Completed the Perkins Loan Entrance Counseling
- Signed the Perkins Master Promissory Note
- If you received scholarships, complete any other requirements as indicated by the Scholarship Office.
- If you were selected for Verification, complete that process.
- Eligible for Hazlewood or Educational Aid Exemption
- Completion of any other Special Circumstances submitted.
