Bachelor of Science Degree in Geology
 
The program offers the Bachelor of
Science degree in Geology, which provides opportunities to prepare for
careers in petroleum, mining, water resources, environmental management,
governmental agencies, engineering geology, geochemistry, geophysics, and
natural resources.
Undergraduate coursework includes general geology, field
geology, geomorphology, mineralogy and crystallography, igneous and metamorphic petrology,
sedimentary petrology, sedimentology and stratigraphy, tectonics/structural geology,
volcanology, economic geology, general geochemistry, analytical geochemistry,
low-temperature geochemistry, invertebrate paleontology, general hydrology,
ground-water/hydrogeology, engineering geology, physical oceanography.
The program also offers a Bachelor of Arts
degree in Geology as well as a minor.
