Participating in student organizations has many benefits. They give members the opportunity to meet with other students who have similar interests, network with professionals in the field, meet admissions or recruiting staff from professional schools, investigate their academic and professional interests, provide community service, and develop leadership skills. The following pre-professional and community service student groups are registered (RSO) with the Student Activities Office (SAO). A complete listing of all of UTSA’s RSO's can be found on the SAO website. Information on Fall 2006 meeting dates, locations, and times will be added as they are received by the University Health Professions Office from the student organizations.
Alpha Epsilon Delta (AED) Purpose Statement: To provide a forum for pre-medical students to learn from others and each other.

American Red Cross Campus Club (ARCCC) Purpose Statement: The purpose of this organization is to promote service through volunteer projects and establish leadership within the members of the San Antonio Area Chapter and the UTSA community.

The CURE: Campus United for Respect and Education Purpose Statement: The CURE is a peer education organization designed to provide the University community with information on health relationships, sexual violence, and mental health.

Peers Against Impaired Driving (PAID) Purpose Statement: A peer education program organized to educate sanctioned students with the latest information on alcohol, drugs and the ramifications of impaired driving. Webpage: http://utsa.edu/health/paid/Email: Kathleen.Ceresoli@utsa.edu (Sponsor) Facilitator and President: PAID is a sanctioned program in collaboration with Judicial Affairs and Student Health Services.Sanctioned students will have a first hand account of the repercussions of alcohol offenses (DUI, DWI) and the struggle a student at UTSA has had to succeed with a police record. One goal of the PAID program is to reduce the number of repeat offenders at UTSA and for students to realize the after effects of their actions. Dates for PAID:
Physical Therapy Society Purpose Statement: To inform students about the physical therapy profession, inform students of the requirements to apply to PT school, and act as a support group for the educational and social interests of its members.

Pre-Nursing Society Purpose Statement: The Pre-Nursing Society motivates and enhances excellence in pre nursing scholarship and assists students in the undergraduate pre nursing experience as well as in the admission process to the professional nursing school.

Pre-Pharmacy Student Organization Purpose Statement: To offer a variety of tools to aid students that are preparing for pharmacy school. The organization also helps students interested in pharmacology or any other field related to the pharmaceutical industry. Our goal is to develop academic success at UTSA and to prepare students for the next step. The organization is here to promote and represent well the UTSA campus.

Student Health Advisory Committee (SHAC) Purpose Statement: Committee consists of student members to advise the Health Services Administration and make recommendations concerning health and medical services for UTSA students. Student Health Organization Purpose Statement: SHO is dedicated to providing information about general health issues facing UTSA students so they can make educated empowered choices. The members of SHO believe that peer educators can play a uniquely effective role, unmatched by professional educators.

Volunteering Organization Involving Community Education and Service (VOICES) Purpose Statement: Serves as a clearinghouse and service organization for students interested in volunteer projects and programs. As a clearinghouse, we provide students and student organizations access to information on agencies within the San Antonio area in need of volunteers. As a service organization, we plan and implement programs throughout the school year that introduce students to a variety of meaning volunteer experiences.
