Jazz in the PlazaJannette Monteith claimed first place with her submission, "UTSA All the Way."   She is a senior studying art and interior design with a focus in drawing. She has published drawings in The Independent online newsletter and the student newspaper, Paisano. Last fall, she donated several works to the Art for Africa charity auction sponsored by Student UNICEF. She plans to pursue a master of fine arts degree at UTSA.
 

 

 

 

 

Jazz in the PlazaDavid Taylor was awarded second place for his entry, "UTSA Homecoming 2008."  An artist and photographer from Washington, D.C., David Taylor now lives in San Antonio and works in both traditional and digital media. He is a junior and a member of the Omicron Delta Kappa honor society. His success as an amateur photographer includes representation in exhibits at the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of Natural History and the Kathleen Ewing Gallery in Washington, D. C., as well as publication in Nature's Best magazine.

 

 

 

Jazz in the PlazaThird place was awarded to Kristopher Garcia for his design, "UTSA Truly Defined."  He is a sophomore communications major from Eagle Pass. A full-time student, he also works in the College of Engineering Advising Center. Garcia loves photography and "taking photos of life in all its randomness."
