I've had a great freshman year. I've had challenging courses, great instructors, and a lot of hard work. I've also met interesting people, attended classical concerts, club meetings and tours, and experienced such an exciting new chapter in my life. The honors courses I have taken have challenged me to look outside, inside and all around the box, a lesson that will stay with me through the years. Read more...
"The Honors College is more than a catalyst to success; it is a support system that exudes true care for its students. The Honors College experience has been instrumental in preparing me for a graduate education. I have no doubt that the relationships formed with mentors will continue to be a source of support to me academically and professionally."
"At the Honors College, the counselors really helped me know all my options and the most important classes to take at the right time. I received several internships and research opportunities through connections with the Honors College, which helped me find what I love and gave me a head start on my future career."
"The Honors College provides more than an excellent education; it provides a home for students on the UTSA campus. With great mentors, exceptional advising, and an ample amount of opportunities, the Honors College prepares its students for greatness."
"I never imagined I could have attended graduate school before I became a member of the Honors College. The mentors and staff at the Honors College inspired me to exceed my expectations and instilled in me the confidence to continue my education. Because of their help and encouragement, in the fall I will be starting my doctoral program in Chicago."
"The Honors College community creates an environment that allows you to excel academically. As a member of the Honors College I have been provided with many opportunities that would not have been available to me as a regular student. I have traveled to Italy as part of the Honors College Study Abroad program and I have been given the opportunity to intern in Washington D.C. as an Archer Fellow. These experiences, and my studies at UTSA's prestigious Law Institute, have allowed me to become a competitive law school candidate. None of this would have been possible without the faculty and staff of the Honors College."
"If it were not for the generosity of the Honors College, I would not have experienced the awakening of my African (Yoruba), Spanish (Spain), and Taíno Indian (Boriken) heritage. In a nutshell, when thinking about what the Honors College has meant to me, I can say with all sincerity that, first, I have treasured the opportunity to share with other students my time, my talents, and my life experiences. Second, the opportunity to study and work with the Honors College's dynamic staff has been awesome!"
"The UTSA Honors College has provided me with a wealth of resources and opportunities. My honors advisors and professors have done a tremendous job in helping me to obtain scholarships, leadership experience, and academic excellence. They have been diligent in helping me to realize and refine my potential, not only in academic pursuits but in extra-curricular activities and cultural awareness. I have gained leadership experience as president of UHSA and as a member of the finance committee in the NCHC. I have gained academic recognition through honors scholarships and an increased cultural awareness through the honors study abroad to Italy. The UTSA Honors College has truly helped me to make the most of my college experience."
"I joined the Honors College to challenge my mind, connect with a smaller group of students, and to open new doors of opportunity. Over the years, I have met some of my best friends through the Honors College and by my senior year I had the opportunity to do summer programs with three different medical schools, which included the University of Texas Medical Branch, the UT Health Science Center at San Antonio, and the Baylor College of Medicine. The Honors College has helped me to grow into a more confident and professional person."
