SUBJECT:   Policy on Eating and Drinking in University Facilities

Policy on Eating and Drinking in University Facilities

The following policy on eating and drinking in classrooms and laboratories was recommended by the Academic Resources Committee and approved by the University Assembly.

  1. There shall be no eating and drinking in UTSA classrooms and laboratories, and signs should be posted to that effect.

  2. The "Request for Facility Reservation" form includes the following statement: "Smoking is not permitted in campus facilities. In addition eating and drinking are not permitted in classrooms, laboratories and lecture halls. Food and drink are permitted in other facilities, subject to proper approvals." This regulation should effectively control use of facilities by groups other than organized classes. "Proper approval' is interpreted to be by person or office responsible for reserving the space.
