2.21 Academic Program Assessment

  2. The Office of the Provost will periodically assess all academic programs at The University of Texas at San Antonio for the purpose of providing the faculty, Department Chairs, and Deans with information that will enhance the quality of the University's degree programs and educational outcomes. This information will also be used to help the University respond to requests for assessment of academic program results from the University of Texas System and/or the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.

  3. Academic Program Assessment Committee
  4. The Academic Program Assessment Committee oversees all aspects of assessment, on behalf of the Provost, including reviewing and/or revising existing policies, developing and implementing assessment processes and schedules for reviews of programs, including the Core Curriculum, assisting Colleges and Departments with their program reviews, comparing assessment outcomes with College and Department goals, and providing Colleges and Departments with the results of the Committee's analysis and responding to outside agency inquiries.

    1. This committee is chaired by the Executive Vice Provost, with the Assistant Provost for Academic and Institutional Effectiveness serving as an ex-officio member.

    2. The Deans' council will elect one of its members.

    3. Each College will be represented by one senior faculty member. Each Dean will nominate at least two senior faculty members to the Office of the Provost. The Chair of the Academic Program Assessment Committee will make the final appointment.

    4. The Vice President for Student Affairs will appoint an Assistant Vice President to serve as an ex-officio member of the Committee.

    5. The representative of the Deans' council and faculty's representatives will serve two-year terms.
