Chapter 3

Staff

3.2 Staff Recruitment Policy

  1. The Executive Director of Institutional Diversity is responsible for monitoring and coordinating affirmative action/equal opportunity procedures, including compliance with search procedures for the University.

  2. Staff positions available at UT San Antonio are to be described fully in advertisements according to title of the position, required and preferred qualifications, and duties. Qualified applicants are to be sought from a wide range of sources.

  3. In order to communicate the availability of positions to a broad range of qualified candidates, such positions should be advertised nationally whenever possible. When advertising, the media selected should include sources that provide for maximum feasible exposure to minorities and women.

  4. All advertisements of positions should carry the notation that "The University of Texas at San Antonio is an Equal Employment Opportunity Employer. Women and minorities are encouraged to apply." (See Guidelines for Recruitment of Staff and Administrators for more detailed information.)

  5. Promotional opportunities for staff employees are also facilitated through the Promotional Opportunities Program. A staff employee may seek promotions and transfers for vacant positions that are advertised both externally and internally.
